E-commerce growth across the Gulf has brought a steady flow of customer returns. Add end-of-line models and over-ordered stock, and many retailers carry pallets of electronics they cannot sell at full price. Selling them in bulk to a specialist buyer frees cash and space.
Know what you have
Sort stock into categories before asking for offers: sealed new, open-box or customer return, working, faulty, and damaged. A manifest with SKU, quantity and return reason earns a much better offer than “one mixed pallet”.
Protect your brand
The biggest worry for retailers is returned stock reappearing locally at a discount. Agree the sales channels in the contract: export only, specific markets, or no online marketplaces. A reputable buyer will put this in writing.
Erase customer data
Returned phones, laptops, tablets and smart devices often still hold the customer’s accounts, photos and messages. Under GCC data protection laws, that is personal data you are responsible for. Make sure every returned device is erased before resale, with a record.
Choose the right model
- One-off lot sale: best for clearing a backlog.
- Standing monthly offer: a fixed price structure for returns each month, so they never pile up.
- Revenue share: for high-value stock, you share in the resale value.
Account for it properly
Keep the sale record and reconciliation report to support inventory write-downs and VAT treatment, and agree with your finance team how the proceeds are booked.
