IT Buyback, ITAD and Data Destruction in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is the largest IT market in the GCC, with rapid investment in data centers, government digital services and corporate headquarters in Riyadh. We support Saudi organisations with buyback, certified data destruction and decommissioning.

Collection

How collection works in Saudi Arabia

We work with clients in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province. For sites outside the UAE, we either destroy the data on site before anything moves, or work through a vetted local partner. Used electronics crossing GCC borders need the right customs paperwork, and hazardous e-waste falls under the Basel Convention, so we plan the route before we collect.

For ongoing programmes, we can set up scheduled on-site destruction days so that only data-free equipment is shipped.

Rules that apply

Data protection and e-waste rules in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), issued by Royal Decree M/19 and amended in 2023, became enforceable in September 2024 and is overseen by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). It requires personal data to be destroyed securely when no longer needed. The National Cybersecurity Authority’s Essential Cybersecurity Controls also cover secure disposal for entities in scope. Certificates per device are the evidence your compliance team will want.

Waste management is overseen by the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN). Recycling must go through licensed operators.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you destroy data in Saudi Arabia before equipment is moved?

Yes. On-site erasure or shredding means equipment leaves your premises data-free.

Does the Saudi PDPL require certified data destruction?

The PDPL requires personal data to be destroyed securely when it is no longer needed. A certificate per device is the practical way to evidence that. Your legal team should confirm your specific obligations.
